Check out this latest photo on the Divergent set. For all you who’ve read the book, you should know this familiar setting, as Tris, played by Shailene Woodley, stands on the ledge of a building with everyone else watching, waiting.
This is an amazing shot of the scene from Divergent, and of course, the scene is amazing in the book, so it’ll be interesting how it plays out on screen. You can see how different Tris’ faction clothing is compared to the others. And it actually looks a little more stylish than I imagined Abnegation to be, but I’m not really complaining about it. You can also see Four, played by Theo James, standing back, watching her, which is interesting, because in the book, he’s one of the ones at the net. You can also see Zoe Kravitz, who plays Christina, and possibly Miles Teller, who plays Peter, among those in the group of Initiates. I also wonder if they’re going to alter the background scenery a bit to make it feel more dystopic. Who knows.
Director Neil Burger spoke to EW, who had the first look, about the scene. “In this photo she’s already jumped off the train and onto a seven story building as part of the initiation rite for the Dauntless. The next thing they have to do is jump from the building and down through a courtyard that has a deep, black hole. It’s terrifying.”
“We’d been nervously planning it because it is dangerous and there’s a lot of people on that roof,” Burger continued. “We had to pull it off safely and also pull it off cinematically, so you have this knot in your stomach as you watch this young woman decide to do this crazy thing. We had great weather that day and I think this scene really is emblematic of the movie: It shows the energy and the rawness of the way we’re telling the story.”
So, what do you think about this scene? Does it give you goosebumps like me? Do you like that Four is there? And now looking at the photo, are you still irritated that her Shailene Woodley’s hair is not blond, despite the fact that it really is unimportant to the storyline? Comment below!
Thanks to Hypable for the heads up.
